INVESTMENT PHILOSOPHY

Invest Like A Scientist.

A culture of academic inquiry has been Endeavor’s bedrock from the start. Our approach is grounded in evidence, Nobel Prize-winning insights, low costs, diversification, and disciplined implementation.

THE SHORT VERSION

Six principles behind our investment approach

We own the whole market, not a handful of guesses.

A spending reserve may help reduce the need to sell growth investments during market declines.

Tax considerations incorporated into investment planning, with coordination among professionals when appropriate.

Low-cost funds built on Nobel Prize-winning research.

A steady voice when markets get scary, not a sales pitch.

Fee-only fiduciary. We’re paid the same no matter what we recommend.

01 · THE ENDEAVOR STANDARD

Our job is to help you own your fair share of the world’s growth, and to protect your plan from the stuff that quietly wrecks it: high fees, sloppy taxes, big bets, and panic.

That’s it. That’s the whole philosophy in one sentence. Everything on this page is just us showing our work, so you know exactly how your money is invested and why.

The Endeavor Advisors team

Evidence over emotion

We follow decades of research, not headlines, hunches, or whatever’s trending this week.

Purpose before product

Your goals shape the plan. The plan shapes the portfolio. Funds are just tools.

Taxes are part of the return

What you keep matters more than what you make. Tax planning is baked in, not bolted on.

Discipline when it’s hard

Anyone can invest in a good year. We build plans that hold up in the bad ones.

02 · THE PREMISE

Nobody can predict the market. Including us.

Wars, recessions, pandemics, elections, interest rates, a tweet at 2 a.m. Markets move for reasons that only look obvious after the fact. Plenty of people on TV will tell you what happens next. Their track record is not great.

So we start from a place of humility. We don’t pretend to see the future. Instead, we combine what we know about you (your goals, your timeline, how you sleep at night) with what decades of data tell us about how markets actually behave.

That’s a less exciting story than “we found the next big thing.” It’s also a much better way to retire.

The goal

Beat the market by picking winners

Seek broad market exposure through a diversified, research-informed approach

What drives decisions

Forecasts, headlines, gut feel

Your plan, and what the evidence supports

How often it trades

Constantly, to look busy

Only when your plan or allocation calls for it

Costs

High fund fees, trading costs, commissions

Low-cost funds and zero commissions

Taxes

An afterthought, discovered in April

Planned all year by our in-house tax team

When markets drop

React, reshuffle, hope

Spend from reserves, rebalance, harvest losses, stay the course

03 • THE ENDEAVOR DIFFERENCE

Guided by Financial Science,
Not Speculation.

Endeavor’s investment approach is grounded in financial research, disciplined implementation, broad diversification, and a focus on the factors investors can control.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Implementing great ideas in finance.

Our investment philosophy is built around applying financial research with discipline, broad diversification, thoughtful implementation, and a focus on the things investors can actually control.

THE INDUSTRY

04 · THE SCIENCE

Built on Nobel Prize-winning research, explained like a normal person.

A culture of academic curiosity has been part of Endeavor since day one. Here are the three big ideas that do most of the heavy lifting in your portfolio.

01

Markets are smart. Work with them.

Prices already reflect what millions of investors know and expect. Trying to outguess all of them, consistently, is a losing game. So we stop playing it and own the market instead.

02

Diversification is the closest thing to a free lunch.

Owning companies across markets and sectors can reduce concentration risk, although diversification does not eliminate the risk of loss.

03

You get paid for the right risks.

Research points to a few dimensions linked to higher expected returns over time, like smaller companies, lower relative prices, and higher profitability. We lean into them thoughtfully, never with all-or-nothing bets.

05 · THE FOUNDATION

Every dollar you invest has one of two jobs.

Some dollars are there to grow for the long haul. Others are there to pay your bills, no matter what the market is doing. Getting that split right is the single most important decision in your portfolio.

YOUR PORTFOLIO

JOB ONE

Growth

JOB TWO

The Paycheck Reserve

These dollars own pieces of thousands of great businesses around the world. As those companies innovate, earn profits, and grow, so does your money. Owning businesses is one of the greatest wealth-building engines ever created.

The catch? The ride is bumpy. Last year’s winner can be this year’s laggard. Growth dollars need time, patience, and broad diversification to do their job.

Here’s how we see risk: the real danger isn’t that stocks go down. They will. The real danger is being forced to sell them when they do. That’s how temporary drops become permanent losses.

So we set aside roughly five years of the spending your portfolio needs to cover, in high-quality, short-term bonds and cash. When markets fall, you live off the reserve and your growth dollars get time to recover.

TIME HORIZON

Money you won’t need for at least five years.

WHAT IT’S NOT

A place to chase yield. No long-term or junk bonds here. Its job is stability.

TRY IT WITH YOUR NUMBERS

06 · WHAT YOU’LL OWN

A look under the hood.

The philosophy sounds good on paper. Here’s what it actually looks like in your accounts, and what it doesn’t.

WHAT WE’LL LIKELY OWN

Own the whole market, not a hunch.

Your portfolio is built from broad, low-cost building blocks, so your results rest on thousands of businesses rather than a handful of bets.

1

Thousands of companies across the U.S. and around the world.

2

Large, mid, and small companies in developed and emerging markets.

3

Low-cost, broadly diversified funds from Dimensional, Vanguard, and similar providers.

4

High-quality, short-term bonds sized to your spending in the Paycheck Reserve.

WHAT WE STEER CLEAR OF

Leaving out what costs you most.

Some of the biggest drags on long-term returns come from what gets added to a portfolio. These stay out of yours.

1

Stock picking and market timing.

2

Last year’s top-performing fund.

3

Speculation dressed up as investing: hot IPOs, trendy themes, gold rushes.

4

High-fee, tax-inefficient active funds.

5

Products that pay an advisor a commission. We don’t take any.

WHAT CHANGES, AND WHAT DOESN’T

Moves driven by your life, not the news.

As markets move, your mix drifts. We adjust with clear rules and real reasons, never for the sake of looking busy.

1

We rebalance when your mix drifts past set limits, not because of a headline.

2

When your life changes (retirement, an inheritance, selling a business, a new goal), your portfolio may change too.

3

Activity for its own sake? Never.

Why Dimensional? Their funds are built on the same academic research behind our philosophy. They’re low-cost, patient with trading, and focused on the dimensions of return that matter. A natural fit.

07 · TAX-SMART BY DESIGN

It’s not what you make.
It’s what you keep.

Most advisors hand your tax questions off to someone else and hope it works out. We don’t, because our tax team is part of the family.

That means every investment decision gets looked at through a tax lens first, by people who actually prepare tax returns.

08 · WHEN MARKETS FALL

We can’t control the market. Here’s what we can control.

Market drops aren’t a surprise. They’re a regular part of owning stocks. Drops of 20% or more have happened many times, and we plan for the next one from day one, so you’re never making a big decision in the middle of a storm.

Our downturn playbook

1

Before

Your Paycheck Reserve is funded

Your plan already assumes downturns will happen

You know exactly what we’ll do, ahead of time

2

During

Your paychecks come from the reserve, not from selling stocks low

We rebalance and harvest losses when it makes sense

We aim to communicate proactively when markets are unsettled

3

After

As markets recover, we refill the reserve from growth

We use the tax losses we banked

Your plan keeps going, and so does your life

What we won’t do: tell you to sell everything, go quiet on you, or overhaul your plan because of a scary headline.

09 · OUR PROMISE

Life first. Plan second. Portfolio third.

For too long, financial advice has been driven by commissions, products, and predictions. We built Endeavor to work differently.

01

Your life

What do you want your money to do for you? We start there, always.

02

Your plan

Income, taxes, Social Security, estate, and risk, all working together.

03

Your portfolio

The tool that carries out the plan. Never the other way around.

Fiduciary, always

We’re legally required to put your interests first. We’d do it anyway.

Fee-only

No commissions, no kickbacks. We’re paid the same however we invest your money.

Independent

No in-house funds to push. We judge every tool by one question: does it help you?

Your money, your name

Assets are held at independent custodians: Charles Schwab, Vanguard, or Altruist.

“I got into this business because of 2008. I watched what fear and bad advice did to families like mine. This philosophy is my answer to that: a plan you understand, a portfolio built for the bad years, and someone in your corner who tells you the truth.”
